The financial services division had paper documents stored at dozens of distributed branch offices. They wanted to improve customer service by allowing any staff member to see any document.

They settled upon Filenet, and I took care of the hardware details and capacity planning.

We settled upon HP and EMC, using HP's ServiceGuard product to handle failover. Since this was our first big Unix installation outside of headquarters, I went to the site and got my hands dirty a bit -- personally installing Oracle and some of the hardware.

In the picture below you can see an an EMC Symmetrix disk array on the left. Directly behind it, with vertical black stripes, are optical disk libraries. In the center are three HP-9000 T-series units. Their consoles are on top. The rack without a console on top holds boot disk drives and tape units. On the very right is another set of optical libraries.
