The internet was affecting everyone, and my group had just recently provided internet mail and web access to the company.
It was time to develop an intranet.
We brought in Microsoft Consulting and started off by attending a methodology course: "The Microsoft Solutions Framework."
We ended up producing a system that included Microsoft IIS and Lotus Domino web servers. It was also linked to the mainframe. Initial applications included sales data, telephone book, AP news feed, and a trading post. It was later extended to include channels and personalization.
Although I was running the Unix and Notes projects at the time, I served as the project manager for the initial roll out of our intranet. I was also lucky enough to take the show on the road, presenting the system to our field offices.
